JOB TITLE: NURSERY NURSE
REPORTING TO: Room Leader
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be required to carry out the following functions:
1. To support the nursery Room Leader with all aspects of Nursery life.
2. To provide and promote a safe, caring, stimulating environment, which wholly caters for
the needs of the children and colleagues of Major Minors.
3. Ensure the complete safety, stimulation and well being of the children at all times.
4. To be involved in the planning and implementation of a suitable range of activities for the
children in your care
5. Ensure the nursery is safe, clean, presentable and stimulating at all times.
6. Contribute effectively to our committed and enthusiastic team in the early years
Foundation Stage and within the whole nursery:
7. Develop and implement activities suitable to the age and ability of children in the nursery in
consultation with the Nursery Manager.
8. Prepare the children’s records of achievement in co-operation with parents/carers and
taking part in reviews as specified by the Nursery Manager.
9. Ensure the service is accessible and inclusive of all children with a range of abilities and
liaise with Haringey SENCO where necessary
10. Be a positive role model promoting equality of opportunity and sound childcare practices.
11. Work with families of each child to ensure full integration into the nursery within the key
worker system.
12. Develop and maintain good relationships and communication with parents/carers to
ensure the day to day needs of the child are being met.
13. Have knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
14. Work with the nursery team and management to ensure that welfare requirements are
complied with.
15. Ensure the confidentiality of all information received in accordance with the Data
Protection Act.
16. Implement all nursery policies and procedure’s
17. Attend any appropriate training and development as identified by the manager.
18. Ability to provide verbal and written feedback on children’s progress.
19. Provide support and guidance for volunteers whilst in the Nursery.
20. Promote a safe and caring environment to enable each child to grow and develop within its
own potential
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
Must possess a N. N. E. B, NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent and have excellent communication skills
and experience of working within a day care setting
Have a passion and show genuine care and concern for the children.
Is able to use own initiative.
Has an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including the Early Learning
Goals and The Early Years Foundation Stage Profile
Desirable Criteria
Can speak or understand a language other than English
HOURS: 40 hours per week (excluding break)
and experience)
ANNUAL LEAVE: 28 days (including public holidays)
LOCATION: Green Lanes/Tottenham
You will be asked to work between both our nursery sites when cover is needed. |
