  About me:

My name is Charley, I'm 21 years old and currently living in Swansea with my boyfriend. I'm a recent graduate and love being creative. I'm the oldest of 6 children (5 girls, 1 boy) and the youngest has just turned 3. I've grown up around children my whole life and am a trusted babysitter within my close family and friend circle.
I like to go on long walks, knit, read, act and be creative at every opportunity. I have a GCSE (Grade A) in Child Development and a degree (Applied Drama), which essentially means using drama as a tool for learning. this degree has taught me essential behaviour management skills and how to deal with challenging behaviour as well as the importance of the use of play to learn.

I'm friendly, approachable, reliable and love an exciting challenge.

  Work Experience & Education Background

Support Assistant for the Elderly: I spent some time volunteering in a drama group that was open to
students from years 5-8, the aim of which was to produce a school Christmas production. I was required to help with warm up and warm down games as well as general volunteer duties. helping the children learn lines, giving suggestions for improvement, assisting with blocking scenes and generally encouraging the participants.

Volunteer: For a short while in my first year of college, I ran workshops alongside two peers for the SEN students that attended a local school. The aim of these workshops was to create a short ‘Grimms Fairy Tale’ inspired performance for the college’s Christmas show (which I compered).

Drama Facilitator: I created and co facilitated a successful project delivering weekly one hour ses- sions to a class of year 4 students. We utilised dramatic techniques in order to teach the students about the environment – part of the national curriculum. When planning our sessions, consideration was taken to include and engage all 30 students, 2 of which had autism. These sessions developed my leadership skills and needed me to be adaptable, confident, well organised and work as part of a team.

Facilitator: I am currently co facilitating a project with vulnerable women aged 18+ seeking confidence and employment in Swansea. The ‘Like A Boss’ initiative requires me to work with women of varying age. I am due to facilitate in a school with young girls to encourage body confidence and self esteem. this project has, and will continue to require me to draw on dramatic techniques and adopt a positive, self assured and non judgemental approach. In addition to this placement, I am also co facilitating a project with ‘young role models’ in deprived areas of Swansea, encouraging them to mentor younger students.
