  Work Experience & Education Background

Work Experience 5 Yrs, references 2
I have 5 years worth of experience in nurseries for children under the age of 5, and have experience working with a key group, liaising with parents, and creating fun and stimulating activities for children. As well as this I am comfortable with the personal care of children for example changing nappies, feeding, bottle feeding, and putting children to sleep. I also have experience babysitting with Bath Babysitting Agency. I have experience with elderly people and adults with learning difficulties in a non-care context. I volunteered with the Alzheimer's Society for 6 months whilst at uni, and spent time helping people with Dementia who were in hospital to feel engaged and happy during their stay. I have also volunteered in an extra care home, just creating fun activities for the residents such as bingo and group games. I volunteered in Sri Lanka for 5 months working on 5 projects aiming to promote positive mental health in organisations and groups. A lot of this work took place in schools, particularly schools for those with SEN requirements. Thus, I am confident in my ability to communicate effectively with children with SEN requirements. These particular communication skills are enhanced by a recent TQUK course I have completed in Understanding Autism. My current role is with a childcare/Education agency, and I have recently acquired a more ongoing role with the agency for recommencement in September. This role is in a Pupil Referral Unit for pupils who are unable to attend mainstream education due to mental health, learning disabilities, or social problems.

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
3 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years, 2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years, over 10 years of age, special needs children, twins, triplets
Education/Training:
High School, Graduated High School or Equivalent, College, Bachelor's Degree
I graduated from Bath Spa University with a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) Psychology last July. This course is accredited with the HCAP and I intend to study psychology further, specialising in child psychology or educational psychology.
