  About me:

My name is Rebecca. I come from a lovely small town on the west coast of Scotland, called Oban. I have loved growing up here but now on starting a new journey of my own in Glasgow. I’m in my second year of university as my dream job is to work with children as a primary school teacher. It was always been a dream of mine to pursue a career in teaching as I believe there is no greater fascination than watching a child develop into their own person & having a part to play in this development. I believe I have a strong and dedicated nature which has motivated me to always give my full potential in a learning and working environment. Throughout my degree and working in the a nursing home, I have learnt the value of effective communication, ability to work under pressure, time management and leadership. I enjoy being creative and drawing but also keeping fit by swimming and cycling.

  Work Experience & Education Background

Work Experience 1 Year, references 2
During my fifth year of high school, for work experience, I requested to go to a primary school to spend one week in a primary six classroom. During this time, I assisted certain children with additional support needs with their reading and writing skills, supervised group activities and helped the teachers to plan learning activities. The following year of 2015, I returned to the same primary school, but this time to a Primary two classroom.
The same year, I volunteered every Tuesday as a Brownie leader. I would help arrange special events such as day trips, sleepovers and camping holidays. The children had opportunities to learn new hobbies and it encouraged good behaviour to help them work towards getting brownie badges.
I have experience as working as a care assistant, caring for the elderly in a nursing home. This job introduced me to working with people who have degenerative mental health diagnoses, as well as physical, and how they struggle with communicating effectively.

Childcare experience within the following age groups:
3 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years, 2 - 5 years, 5 - 10 years
Education/Training:

With completion of my HNC Childhood Practice in 2017, I completed the following units. Care in contemporary society, Leadership starts with me, Health wellbeing and safeguarding, Lifespan development theoretical approaches, Promote effective communication, Promote health, safety and security in the work setting, Support for play learning and development or playwork opportunities, Promoting language, literacy and numeracy, Working with children 0-8, Supporting children and young people’s behaviour, Supporting children and young people with additional support needs, Play, and completion of a Graded Unit, in which I received a grade A.

Georgina Taylor
Georgina is the manager of Lynn of Lorne Nursing Home where I worked for 3 years. Although this job is not childcare related, it is within a care capacity and I believe my time here is a true representation of my work ethic and personal skills. The reason for leaving this job is due to a family who needed my help as a nanny (Reference for family below)

Carmen Lungu
I began working for Carmen in March 2018. From this time her son and I have developed a great bond and has been a joy to work and watch her son develop physically and emotionally.
