In addition to my full-time teaching assistant position in a primary school, I have worked on the weekends and evenings as a nanny. As a nanny, I have almost one year of experience caring for a baby from the age of 6 months old up until he was 15 months old. I have also looked after his 11 years old brother although he was not my main duty. Taking care of young children, especially babies, is rewarding but sometimes challenging. Over the experience, I have developed special techniques that prove useful in calming young babies, including the most restless ones. I am in favor of a structured day as it gives children an opportunity to follow a schedule and to learn and understand discipline.
I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for the children in my care. I take safety extremely seriously, and am trained and certified in childhood first-aid and CPR. I am only leaving my position because the family has found a full time nanny, as I can’t do full time other than the school holidays because of my teaching assistant job. Although my employer has offered to keep me on in a housekeeping role my true love is working with children.
