  About me:

I’m Katie, Originally from Mersea Island, I attended Plymouth University to study Ocean Science, achieving a First-Class BSc (Hons) and a position on the Dean’s List 2016-17

My job experiences have all included aspects of communication, maintaining excellent written and verbal skills.

I have worked as an outdoor instructor teaching a variety of activities, from rock climbing to wake boarding, this demanded the adaptability to teach many abilities and ages. These roles gave me the opportunity to learn new sports and skills which I could then teach to members of the public, communicating the safety information in an engaging and clear manner.

My interests are focused in outdoor and adventure sports from snowboarding and wake boarding to sailing, rowing and surfing. I also have a passion for traveling and exploring new places and cultures. Through my degree i have become very interested in conservation and the importance of protecting our oceans.

In 2014, myself and a friend organised and completed a 220km hike of the South West Coast Path, over a 10-day period, raising £2000 for Help for Heroes. In 2015, I climbed Kilimanjaro with Plymouth’s RAG society, individually raising £3000 for Meningitis Research Foundation. Both challenges required adaptability and independence, honed my fundraising skills and pushed boundaries
