Barts Health (6 week placement as part of my university degree) Current
• Independently running a preparation for secondary school group with Year 6 students who have autism and language disorders.
• Carrying out one-to-one intervention with Year 7 children who have learning difficulties.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ placement (as part of my university degree) 2017
• Independently carrying out SLT assessments and intervention with pre-school children who have a variety of SLCN including autism, selective mutism and Down syndrome.
• Liaising with parents and running therapy groups that advised on how they could interact and support their children on a day-to-day basis.

Learning support assistant at Blossom House School 2015-2016
• Year 11 assistant for a class who had a variety of SLCN including autism and speech and language difficulties.
• Supporting a multidisciplinary team (SLTs, Occupational Therapists and teachers) during lessons and intervention and liaising with them about how best to support the needs of students.

Sense – a national charity supporting children and adults who are deafblind or have sensory impairments.
The organisation’s newly established ‘Get Out There’ group helps young people (aged 6-25) with sensory impairments to develop independence and confidence by taking part in enjoyable weekly activities.

• Helping children with sight difficulties to build confidence and learn new skills by taking part in fun activities such as kayaking and ice-skating.
• Assisting the Group Coordinator to prepare for sessions: clearing away before/after activities, communicating with the participants’ parents before and after the session to discuss progress.
• Supporting participants with their personal care needs as unobtrusively as possible to encourage independence.
• An introduction to various communication systems and therapies used by professionals, such as Braille, Moon, BSL and the block alphabet.
