  Work Experience & Education Background

Work Experience 5 Yrs, references 3
I have 3 A’s in Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education and I have 4 years of paid experience working with children under the age of 5 and meeting their developmental and health needs. I am currently working 37 hours a week, all year round as a BG5 Early Years Practitioner at The Limes Children Centre and Nursery school in the 2-3 year old provision and undertaking the role of tea club provision for children aged 2-4. I have knowledge of equal opportunities as I care and work with all children in our room but focus on my group of 8 key children/families with different needs and circumstances, I do this by providing a range of equipment, resources and toys to cater for all ages, ability, gender and interests. I understand and put into practice safeguarding and child protection procedures by ensuring all interaction and care given is confidential and inclusive. This is supported by. child protection training that I have completed and passed, ensuring all children have passwords to enable only the appropriate adults collect the children, engaging in weekly meetings to discuss all children to raise any concerns to ensure a reliable and effective response in the event of any concern for a child’s welfare, and to support each child and each family and having appropriate adult: child ratios. I have experience in identifying individual children’s needs and contributing towards assessment of developmental progress by writing observations using Tapestry’s Online Journal, assessing each one using EYFS/COEL statements and aged categories appropriately regarding their current development stage. I have had recent feedback about the observations I write and I have been told they are extremely accurate and detailed with no areas of development. I believe I have excellent interpersonal skills and accurate verbal and written communication by engaging with parents at each drop off and pick up time and arranging parent consultations to discuss their child and any other matters that may arise, giving families available support with anything they may need, being involved in writing reports about children and liaising with other professionals using my knowledge and skills. I have the ability to work towards the creation of a safe and caring environment by following health and safety policies such as accidents and incidents forms available for each child if something occurs because it informs parents and other members of staff.  I have proven skills in organising activities to achieve defined targets and being accountable for impact in outcomes such as Personal Education Plans and effectively using observations and reports to write next steps for all children. I have a proven ability to work as part of a team as I work with a multi-agency team to benefit myself and all the children, we complement each other with our strengths and weaknesses and working together allow us to cover a wide ground of care and professionalism. I have the ability to attend to children’s physical and emotional needs effectively, my role is to make children’s lives in the setting as relaxed for them as possible. I ensure all their care needs are met. drinking water, nutritional food, nappy changing, and a stimulant environment inside and outside. Our children can then explore their limits in a controlled environment with appropriate supervision and equipment to help them thrive in a safe and positive way. I have knowledge and understanding of the needs of children with SEN as 3 of my key children have SEN. I work closely with our SEN Co-coordinator to ensure I am giving them the opportunity to thrive, to do this I have gone on SEN training called Interaction Matters and am currently learning about PECS (Picture exchange communication) which I am practicing with my SEN children with help of a speech and language therapist. I have proven skills in planning program for key groups/individual children by planning every morning and afternoon for the following day including songs/story of the week deriving from the children’s interests.

I have previously worked part time at The Limes Children Centre and Nursery School as a BG5 Early Years Practitioner for 2-3-year-old provision. My duties include caring for 4 key children and others in Willow room. As part of my daily routine. I work with SMSA’s at lunch club which involve me setting up the lunch s, retrieving the packed lunch boxes, setting children’s places at the s, serving food and recording what food they have eaten adhering to dietary requirements. I help the packed lunch children with opening their packets of food and encourage the children to eat. With my 4 key children I complete online journals with updates of their developmental progress and photos of their daily activities, which the parents can access. I make observations of their learning through play and plan new next steps and review previous ones using this information. I support and encourage the children’s health and self-care by keeping them warm, dry and comfortable, including changing nappies, clothes and washing hands. I engage in the children’s activities and provide activities to give them the opportunity to explore new interests and experiences. I help facilitate snack time and encourage children to eat nutritionally valued food and drink. I tidy the classroom as needed at the end of each session and help plan using the EYFS and set up activities for the following day. I attend meetings to discuss my personal development, safeguarding the children and new areas of development for all.

I was previously an Ofsted registered home child carer (Private Nanny) to a set of twins. They have a cow’s milk allergy and digestive problems. My main duties were to create and cook dairy, gluten and wheat free recipes, nappy changing, household duties, day trips, administering first aid/medicines when necessary, ensuring a safe and stimulant environment by removing dangers and interacting in a variety of activities. Working with them and their family have proven my skills to plan activities with a range of outcomes to achieve defined targets for their health and development stages.

At college I worked at a primary school with a role of a learning support assistant where I was involved in an Ofsted inspection and parents evening. I became an integral part of the setting and a valued member of staff. I developed a high standard of accurate verbal and written communication skills. this was accompanied by writing observations and letters to parents. This enabled me to identify individual needs and contribute towards assessment of developmental progress. One child in particular. I worked in partnership with their SEN worker supporting that child with their interaction skills and emotional needs as they were on the autistic spectrum and needed help with daily activities. As part of children’s physical needs. I was responsible for leading my own group of children in a sports day event and I taught my class of children how to maypole dance which we performed to an audience of parents and families.

I worked in a family home as a daily live out nanny looking after a young baby who had chronic reflux. I aided with his development with sensory play and I assisted the weaning process with his mother, which due to his medical needs was sometimes difficult. I attended many hospital appointments with him and his family. My main duties were keeping him relaxed and comfortable due to severe stomach pain, this involved baby massage and administering medicine. Once he got older, I had training in how to help build up his stomach muscles, which relieved some of the symptoms of reflux. These were stomach floor exercises using toys and exciting materials to keep his concentration.

I worked in a private day nursery where I started as bank staff due to my age and ongoing progress with completing my childcare course, this developed into regular shifts and overtime. This resulted into many children and parents warming to me and respecting as a member of staff, especially when being professionally active in their parents evening. I regularly sanitised the toys and equipment in order to ensure the creation of a caring and safe environment. I updated the parent’s board for parents to see their child’s learning and development set out in the EYFS. I prepared nutritional food for the children taking into consideration dietary requirements. This setting gave me an opportunity to work as a team and refer to my line manager for information and feedback on my duties which were all positive.

Whilst growing up my family fostered for 6 years which resulted in many successful transitions to adoption, which made me aware of social care work. Showing that confidentiality, safeguarding procedures and the inclusion policy of children being cared for and appreciated for who they and their family are regardless of their background, race, religion and gender which is integral for their development.
