  About me:

I am a very happy and bubbly person who is very motivated within my work and has a fantastic work ethic, I like to work with children as I get to see them grow, learn and develop and achieve goals. I am a fun person and very energetic, I have worked in child care for 5 years within a nursery but I would like a change but still want to stay working.

I have gained experience working with children ages 4 months- 11 years over the past five years whilst at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery. I have taken part in providing outstanding childcare and had various roles and responsibilities such as caring for children’s individual needs, providing a safe and stimulating environment and activities to support children’s development, planning and tracking children’s development through observation and assessment following the EYFS Curriculum. Additionally being responsible for a key group of children which involved setting targets for the children to reach and challenge them which encourages their learning and development. . I have also contributed to general duties within the workplace such as cleaning, tidying. I always try to encourage all children/young people to be independent and encourage them to engage in to activities both adult focussed activities and activities following their interests and offering help and support where needed.

I am aware of policies and procedures and have knowledge on policies and procedures such as health and safety, outings, whistle blowing, safeguarding children and young people, first aid, confidentiality, data protection. I also have an up to date DBS check which is also live and updated yearly.

I have experience and good knowledge of working and following the EYFS to meet children/young peoples learning and development needs as a whole and also for individual needs of each child. I have worked in partnership with parents to support all children/young people and have also worked alongside children/young people who have EAL and SEN, where I worked alongside other professionals providing individual development plans to help them to meet their specific needs. I have worked alongside professionals such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, health visitors and other professionals within the sector.
For Example, I have previously worked alongside a child who has a speech and language impairment and also a number of children who are EAL who needed support when communicating. The children used a system called PECS (Picture exchange card system) where they would use cards to communicate and encourage them to say the words on the pictures. This helps to improve childrens confidence and their learning and development. I have also had experience working with children with autism who also used this system.

I feel I would be able to contribute my knowledge and experience I have gained over the last 5 years to children in my care, I am very confident in my role and would be happy to hear from you.

I have gained experience working with children ages 4 months- 11 years over the past three years whilst at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery. I have taken part in providing outstanding childcare and had various roles and responsibilities such as caring for children’s individual needs, providing a safe and stimulating environment and activities to support children’s development, planning and tracking children’s development through observation and assessment following the EYFS Curriculum. Additionally being responsible for a key group and their learning journeys. When planning for a child it is done in a 6 week cycle, setting targets for the children to reach by the end of the 6 weeks. We ask parents/carers to contribute to their child’s learning by sharing a summary of their achievements. I have also contributed to general duties within the workplace such as cleaning, tidying, putting up displays and displaying children/young peoples work and the completion of paperwork on a daily basis. We encourage all children/young people to be independent and encourage them to engage in to activities both adult focussed activities and activities following their interests.

I am aware of policies and procedures that are in place and have knowledge on policies and procedures such as health and safety, outings, whistle blowing, safeguarding children and young people, first aid, confidentiality, data protection. I am also aware that all concerns are to be reported to the named or designated person as I do within my workplace.

I have learnt and also put into practice various communication skills such as, working alongside colleagues which consists of holding and contributing to monthly team meeting and staff meetings as well as others ways of communicating such as verbally and written. Communication is also vital when working in partnership with parents and carers, things such as, daily diary’s, stay and play sessions which are held every 3 months, planning charity events and workshops for parents/carers to support them as well as their children/young people and parents evenings which are held twice a year. Parents/Carers evenings are an important part of communication as I discuss with parents/carers their children/young peoples progress and achievements alongside their learning and development. Sharing this with parents/carers at theses evenings helps to decide on next steps for the children/young people and to see what they need to do to and we need to do to support them to continue their learning and development.
