I am an enthusiastic, creative and self motivated individual.
I have just graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance. I have danced since I was nine years old training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Street Dance and Contemporary. Dance has taught me a great deal, including self motivation, determination and open-mindedness. I have also learnt about different areas in dance which I enjoy, such as - dance and disability, community dance and performance.
My parents who have been married for 26 years have always brought me up to have an excellent work ethic, as I started working at the age of 14. Through their marriage I have learnt that communication and team work are two key aspects of a relationship. This has helped me in my life with the relationships I have with people. whether in my personal life or professional life.
I have had a lot of experience working with children, in both the educational sector as well as the community setting. I have not only taught dance to children of different ages, I have also worked with them one-on-one and in a classroom. I love enhancing a child's potential and helping them recognise this themselves.

Work Experience & Education Background |

Work Experience 4 Yrs, references 3 |
I have had a vast amount of experience within childcare, starting with work experience at Glais Primary School when I was 15 years old, to doing one year of work experience when I was at College at Alderman Davies Church in Wales School Primary School.
When starting University, I knew I wanted to be involved with dance and children, so I did the 'First Campus Project', which was a dance project for children with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Here we opened up a whole new world to these children and this furthered my drive to working within the childcare area. I also volunteered for five months with the Touch Trust charity, who set up sessions for children and adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Here I learnt that the smallest bit of help can make the greatest of difference, and these sessions were ideal for the guests that came as well as the carers and parents.
In my last year of University, I had the opportunity to voluntarily teach a Year 6 group of children for six months. This involved me teaching them a dance routine for the Sherman Dance Festival and the Cardiff Sports Awards, where they won their first competition and came 2nd. While teaching this I was also a teaching assistant with JSC Dance at another School, teaching classes after School and during Easter. I was also doing work experience at another School in Cardiff where I was more classroom based but I did also teach them dance and they were able to show me phrases of movement they had been working on. |
