Hi there,
I am a 23 year old student. currently studying a Postgraduate degree in Human Rights and International Relations at The University of Glasgow.
I graduated in Sociology from The University of Brighton in June 2016.
In August 2016 I left the UK to go and work in Hanoi, Vietnam. I was there for a year teaching English in Public and Private schools and privately tutoring on the side to children aged between 3 years and 18 years.
Since a young age I aspired to become a teacher, while my career path aspirations may have changed, I know one thing, and that is whatever career path I choose, I know it will involve children one way or another.
My experience includes:
Babysitting local families since I was a young teen in Petersjield, England (my hometown). As I became older, my responsibilities grew- my responsibilities included Overnight stays, Lifts to and From Schools and Nurseries etc. Having sole charge of children for 2 or 3 days whilst parents away.
Youth Worker at the Kings Arms Youth Project. (Based in Petersjield). I started volunteering in 2012 where I was involved in working with children ages 9-15. After 3 months of voluntary work I was offered a paid role as a 'Youth Worker'. Through this paid role I was able to complete some training including Child Protection awareness.
Nanny for Family in Brighton during my Undergraduate degree. For Two of the three years I was studying in Brighton I found a lovely family through this website who I nannied for 3 times a week, plus babysat for on the occasional evening. They were a family of 5, with 3 adorable children. My responsibilities included School pickups, Cooking supper, organising activities for evening until parents returned home from work. Through this family I also was recommended to many families in and around Brighton and picked up lots of occasional babysitting work.
Most recently I have just returned back from Vietnam, where I was teaching English to children. A very very very different experience to here in the UK, but enjoyable all the same.
