Hi thanks for reading. I am currently studying Child Nursing at university. Care and compassion are a big part of me, hence why I have chosen such a career path. The reason why I chose to go into the child field specifically is because growing up as a sibling of 6 and being the oldest I had always felt a heightened sense of responsibility towards them and have enjoyed being there for them for their basic care needs. My parents are from Bangladesh and speak very little English and so a lot of the time I needed to be there for my siblings when it came to things like parents evening at school, hospital appointments and so on.
Now that I am older the idea of working with children really excites me. Children are one of the greatest gifts you can receive in this world and every minute spent with them is a cherishable one.
The main qualities which I feel I possess are: having a very patient manner, being kind and gentle, showing enthusiasm to all tasks that I carry out, having a helpful attitude, reliable and lastly committed to making a positive difference to the lives of the children in my care.

Work Experience & Education Background |

Work Experience 3 Yrs, references 2 |
I have worked in a primary school setting with the role of a Lunchtime Supervisor. My responsibilities include:
• Supervising pupils in the dining hall and playground
• Assisting pupils, where necessary, with the proper use of cutlery, drinking facilities and trays
• Encouraging social skills and good manners
• Ensuring the dining halls are left clean and tidy
• Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of pupils is maintained at all times
• Being aware of responsibilities under child protection legislation, and reporting concerns to a senior supervisor
Being a student nurse means that you will be going out onto placement at various hospitals and health care settings. My first placement so far has been at Birmingham Children's Hospital where I deliver hands on care to children of all ages on a particular ward. Each placement lasts for a duration of 2 months and is a very insightful learning experience for myself. Tasks include: washing and changing a child, communicating with them and playing with them when they are upset, assisting with feeding and drinking and keeping up to date records of their health. |
