  About me:

Hey There, My name is Shanikah. I am 21 years old and I was born and raised in the U. K. (Birmingham). My family background is of Caribbean and Scottish Decent. I have 10 siblings. I have four brothers and six sisters. I come from a bit of a large family. I have my own flat for personal space but I do stay a lot over at my Mums house where my two younger siblings are based. I do not have a car but I am currently in the process of taking lessons.

How my friends and family would describe me: sweet, understanding, genuine, patient, kind, easy going and a good listener, fun, bubbly and creative. I enjoy making those around me happy and would go the extra mile for a person. I have a very caring nature and wish to pursue a rewarding career where I am able to benefit the lives of others.

What I do? I run a non profit mental health support line I set up a year ago. Through this I have spoken to people from all over the world. There is no age limit on who can contact me or what they wish to contact me about. I'm open to everybody. I have a deep passion for helping others and again I will go the extra mile for others. I do this because I want to make sure my client has benefited from our conversation and is safe. I find it rewarding and it makes me feel good to know I've helped at least one person during my day. I have received so many kind messages thanking me for my services as well updates and great feedback. Through my support line I was asked to write about sensitive topics and life for an American based company.

My Creative side: In 2013 I moved to Liverpool to study performing arts. I then went to go onto theatre school and from there I was able to progress further. I have done short films, and theatre productions. I have also written original pieces and have had them performed. Performing arts has definitely helped gain so much confidence and get in touch with my creative side.

I also love to make cup cake shaped soaps. I have very sensitive skin and used to suffer from acne as a teen. It was hard for me to find products that wouldn't make my skin break out. After unsuccessful multiple doctors visits and different recommendations A few years later I came across a channel on YouTube where I was able to watch a lady make soapy cup cakes and me being the creative person I am with a desire to have clear skin it was only right I tried the method out. I loved every minute of creating them. I now make soapy cupcakes for friends and family. My skin is better than ever.

Raising Awareness: I enjoy writing short stories to raise awareness. I have a blog and I touch on issues I feel like society ignores or romanticizes. I try to make them as real and dark as possible because it makes the reader want more and actually empathise with the characters. I write about abuse, mental health, bullying and real life situation's.

Hobbies: I'm always open to trying new, fun things. I dont have specific hobbies.

Pets: I am fine with most pets but I'm not okay with pet tarantulas. (sorry). I have owened Cats, Dogs, Rabbits, Guineapigs and when I was younger I had a stick insect (I was afaid of it lol)

Dislikes: Couscous and Rude Adults.

Likes: Getting intouch with my creative side, Trying out new things, Animals, Watching movies, Reading, Having fun with those around me, dancing and music

Why I decided to become a Nanny at age 21? - I genuinely have a passion for helping out whenever I can. I understand parents needing time for themselves as well as each other. It's all about balance, which some find a little harder to do. I don't mind spending my time filling in for a parent or parents as we could all use extra support from time to time. I believe being a nanny will be fun, rewarding and have I'ts challenging moments. I have a four year old autisc sister. I am no stranger to challenging and difficult behaviour. I understand the level of support, patience and care that is requiered to become a Nanny. As mentioned I am aware of any challenging behaviour I may face but I am not only able to handle it to the best of my ability but also use my personal expierence. Its very important to have the ability to handle situations in a calm and collective manner. It takes a lot of patience and understanding to be able to look after anybody other than yourself as everybody is different, views the world and things in a different way to yourself.

It is important as a Nanny to know how to engage with Children and respond in the correct manner. I will acknowledge the opinions of the family and respect their wishes. I aim to build a strong, healthy relationship and want the Family to feel as if they are able to come to me with any problems they may have.

I can also offer my availability and flexibility. I understand Parents can be dependent on Nanny's depending on how busy their work life is etc, I do not mind going the extra mile to ensure the family is happy and satisfied with the quality services provided to them.
