My name is Jessica Vawdon. I am 19 years of age, Australian currently living in London, UK. Since July 2016 I have been working as an au pair. I have worked for 3 separate families in Fulham caring for children aged been new born to 4 years. I am currently living in Sutton and searching for live out childcare work.
I have roughly 5 years’ experience with childcare work, for example occasional babysitting, working in a before&after school care Centre, Nanning and working in the baby room at a nursery. I have been actively Nanning for several families, one family in particular I have had an extensive working relationship with for over 4 years. In 2014 I completed my certificate 3 in children services I currently also have a police check, working with children check and my first aid all completed in Australia.
I am a reliable, friendly and keen worker in this field. As a child carer, importantly this role requires total focus and commitment. My duties involved general tasks from bathing, clothing and preparing meals to supervising and entertaining children ranging from new born babies to 12 years of age. In this role it is critical I prioritise myself to keep on task and get the job done. I am also involved in carrying out general domestic responsibilities, basic housekeeping and duties intermediate knowledge of cooking, on top of the childcare duties.
I am a very creative person, I enjoy music, theatre, art, film, dance and baking. I love to involve children in all of these as much as possible as I believe being involved in creative activities is fun and absorbing for children and it helps children to have positive experiences and develop important characteristics and abilities.

References 12. 10. 2015 To whom in my concern, Jessica vawdon has been working for me for the past four years. The first three years as a casual babysitter and the past year as a nanny for my four children. In this time Jessica has been 100 reliable, responsible, hardworking, caring, understanding and patient. Jessica’s job has varied so much from day to day that I hope this letter captures her many skills and talents as a nanny and babysitter. Jessica has at times had to run the entire household without myself or my husband present with the four children completely in her care as I was in and out of the hospital with my fourth child. She was able to get the two older children to school on time, having made breakfast, lunches for the day, homework completed, and letters into teachers whilst looking after my one year old daughter. Jessica has also been able to care for my fourth child who a genetic syndrome which means she requires extra care with feeding, bathing and changing. My fourth child is fed via a nasal tube which requires checking the position before each feed and feeding her in a manner that is very skilled and difficult. Jessica is totally capable of doing this with my training, which is remarkable as not many people would be able to tube feed a newborn baby. Another thing that I have found remarkable with Jessica is that in the four years she has worked for me she has never been late and she has NEVER called in sick at all. I personally would not be able to go four years without a sick day but somehow she has managed this. Jessica is able to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for a family of 6. She is able to bath all children, have them ready for the day or bedtime, complete homework with the children, wash, dry and pack away clothes. Pack any of the children’s bags for the day. She is able to administer medication accurately and on time. She is able to do housework, walk the children to school safely and play games with them at an age appropriate level. Jessica always goes out of her way to do whatever she can for our family. Recently my son would ask her to draw him pictures in between shifts of very specific things and she would look them up and have them ready by her next shift. This was without myself or my husband asking. just something the kids would ask her to do. I have no problem at all in referring Jessica to any childcare service, or family, as I know once she gets to know her job she does it extremely well and is 100 committed. She looked after our 2 daughters Sofia (3 year old) and Alice (since the day she was born) and was a great help for us all. She settled in quickly with the family and adapted to our different habits. She professionally tended the 2 girls, in and outside the house when taking them to activities or school as per the schedule we had agreed in advance. She can be relied upon to help also beyond the job description and she was always available to take on some additional chores and help on cooking and cleaning around the house.
