I have worked in social care, in the elder sector, for about 30 years. this includes working as a volunteer for Age UK (previously Age Concern) Experience in childcare has been gained, through my work as a childminder and as a respite foster carer for Birmingham social services. raising my own 5 children has added to that knowledge and understanding of the joys and challenges involved in nurturing and equipping mini people.
I have been involved in a variety of voluntary roles, including fundraising for BLISS (Baby Lifeline Support Systems) NSPCC and as a school governor.

Although it has been some time since I worked as a childminder and short-term/respite foster carer, the insights, knowledge and understanding gained has not been lost, partly due to the fact I already had children. Those skills were definitely transferable.
