  About me:

Hello, I'm Nicola- I'm a fun, enthusiastic and creative Scot, currently living in Glasgow. I have experience working as a nanny, babysitter and working as a support practitioner for adults with mental illnesses, learning disabilities and autism (as well as working with individuals with physical disabilities). I grew up on a farm, love animals and being outside. I also love drawing and travelling. I have a 2:1 degree in Animal Biology but have found working with people very rewarding and would love to find work in this field. Please contact me if you'd like to know any more. I hope to hear from you.

  Work Experience & Education Background

Work Experience 1 Year, references 1
I am currently working as a mental health support practitioner at the Richmond Fellowship Scotland. This role involves working with a diverse range of people with complex mental health problems and needs. My role involves supporting individuals to realise their full potential and live as independently as possible within the community. The cohort of people I work with includes several young adults living with mental illnesses, some of whom also have physical disabilities. Working alongside these people has been a privilege, and fighting the discrimination and obstacles that are placed in front of those with mental health problems is something that is incredibly important to me. I’m also aware of the importance of communicating between different organisations that can be required when supporting an individual with health needs. I help develop support plans for individuals in this role, which means I am aware of the re-evaluation and education tools that can be utilised to help someone develop and recover and the policies and procedures that are in place to ensure this takes place smoothly. Some of the individuals I support have a criminal/forensic history and so I am highly aware of safe-guarding procedures, risk assessments and the extreme sensitivity required when handling personal information and disclosure of any information by an individual. I am also aware of the risk assessments and health and safety procedures required when assisting and individual with everyday life
