Personal Interview

The face to face interview is step six on our list and it something we believe should be carried out whenever possible in the home of your loved one. It is important even prior to asking questions to see whether the caregiver arrived on time, and if not whether they called to notify you, and whether they brought the documents you requested along.

You should focus your questions so that you can gage whether the caregiver can meet the needs and practical demands of the job. Keep your list from step one at hand so your decision can be based on your priorities. Along with finding out about the experience the caregiver has had, you should also tailor your questions to find out specifically if the caregiver can carry out the chores you require. It is also important to ask for evidence of her organizational skills and experience in coping with challenging situations.

Whilst listening to the responses provided by the caregiver, ask yourself the following:
Can you trust this person with a loved one? Does this person seem caring, warm, passionate about her work and reliable?

It is important that you follow your instincts at all times in the hiring process.
